Can't Get Over

Can't Get Over

Can’t Get Over” is a pop song performed by Swedish singer September. The song was written by Anoo Bhagavan, Jonas von der Burg and Niklas von der Burg for September’s third album Dancing Shoes (2007).

The song was released to Australian radio in late 2008 on the back of the success of “Cry For You”, but after record label Central Station went into administration, all releases were cancelled. In February 2009, it was announced that Central Station was back in business, and “Can’t Get Over” was among the first confirmed releases. The single edit in Australia will be the same as the new UK remix, and a CD single will be released on April 10, 2009.

On 3 February 2009 Hard2Beat Records released the all new video for Can’t Get Over.

Jai Ho! (You Are My Destiny)

Jai Ho! (You Are My Destiny)

Jai Ho” is a Hindi song composed by A. R. Rahman, written by Gulzar for the end credits of the film Slumdog Millionaire (2008).

The Pussycat Dolls version

This song was recorded in 2009 by The Pussycat Dolls with English lyrics and featuring lead vocals from Nicole Scherzinger. Produced in collaboration with A. R. Rahman and Ron Fair, Scherzinger prefers to consider this version an interpretation of the original song rather than a remix. The music video, shot in a Vienna trainyard, alludes to the dance sequence in the film.

The song was released on February 23, 2009 on the U.S. iTunes Store and released internationally on February 24. The song debuted on both the Billboard Hot 100 and Canadian Hot 100 at number 100. The next week the song rose on the Hot 100 from 100 to 15, with downloads for “Jai Ho!” up nearly 500%, totaling about 103,000 for the soundtrack version and 27,000 for the Dolls’ version, and also debuted on the Pop 100 chart at 20. Sales for the original soundtrack version, which sold 103,000 copies that week compared to the Pussycat Dolls’ version’s 27,000, were also figured into the song’s chart placement. The song will be released as a download in the UK on March 15.

Britney Spears – If U Seek Amy [3rd Single] (relinked)

Posted on the March 1st, 2009 under Music by alex

If U Seek Amy

If U Seek Amy

If U Seek Amy” is a song by American pop singer Britney Spears and the third single to be released from Circus. The song was announced as a single by Spears official website on January 7, 2009. The track was co-written and produced by Max Martin, who also wrote previous hits for Spears, including “…Baby One More Time” and “Oops!… I Did It Again”. The single was chosen after a poll on BritneySpears.com, involving ten other songs from Circus. The track “If U Seek Amy” won, receiving 26% of total votes. Digitally, “If U Seek Amy” has sold 107,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Renamed single in US

Some parents thought the title “If U Seek Amy” sounds like “F-U-C-K Me” when said aloud and sung. In a Rolling Stone magazine interview, parents were quoted as saying, “I was astonished and totally taken aback when I heard my 5 and 7 year old kids walking around the house singing ‘F-U-C-K’ … When I asked them what it was, they told me it was Britney Spears. I was horrified”. Rolling Stone defended Spears, arguing that parents should have been aware of the singer’s musical themes. The Parents Television Council cautioned radio stations and cable music channels about broadcasting the music video for this song for the same reason.

Due to this reaction to the music, in the US, the radio single was released as “If U See Amy”. The “If U See Amy” version will just be released to American radio, with the music video and the international radio single being both “If U Seek Amy”.
