21 Guns was released May 25, 2009 to modern rock radio stations, although it had already been played on some radio stations such as KROQ in Los Angeles. 21 Guns is on the upcoming soundtrack of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, which is planned to be released on June 23rd. At the pre-release preview of 21st Century Breakdown, the MTV News reviewer called this song, “a cell-phones-in-the-air anthem.”
